Hump Day Treat
I love going out to dinner! It’s a treat that I thoroughly enjoy, and I make no pretenses about it. I used to cook and I used to enjoy doing so. But having a long commute into Silicon Valley doesn’t leave me as much time as it used to, and my cooking skills have gotten rusty (unlike my friend Marsha, who actually takes classes to learn how to cook even better).
Going out to dinner always has a weekend feel for me. Probably, because we usually go out to dinner on the weekends, eating dinner in, at home, during the week. So it was fun for me tonight to go to one of my favorite restaurants, La Bruchetta. And I had one of my favorite dishes, Chicken Ripieno.
The weather tonight, was beautiful. Almost perfect, but once the sun goes down, we do get the cooler, coastal weather. The summer days last long enough so that you can go out, mid-week, and enjoy a nice dinner and even an after-dinner coffee (I forced myself to skip the dessert).
Webster, our dog, goes many places with us. He’s so well-behaved that he’s welcome in many restaurants and hotels — and smuggled into others (OK, I DO admit that I have a little dog problem in that I have a tough time leaving him home). 
Webster knows that his patience and good behavior is always rewarded. Usually, he get’s his own little plate made up of bits and pieces from mom and dad’s plate. Here, Chicken Ripieno, some potatoes and vegetables. His favorite, being carrots.
And of course, as long as we were taking some pictures at the table, I couldn’t help but torture my husband, Bill, who wishes to remain faceless. But he reminded me, “I do have a camera and I also have Internet access!” Good thing he covered his face, else I’d have to whip out Photoshop and use the ol’ “black bar” approach to protect his anonymity. I only hope he dosen’t take up blogging.
As the evening concludes, I am happy (and grateful) to have had the opportunity to go out for a nice, relaxing dinner on this mid-week, summer evening. It’s a real pick-me-up, as I finish my work week and head toward the weekend.
