In a matter of days, I have gone from being a person who sneers at people for using cell phones and other high priced gadgets in nice restaurants, to actually behaving like one of those people! It’s embarrassing to admit. I’ve never quite understood people who feel compelled to chat while walking through a crosswalk. Or the guy (or gal) who holds…

Or, maybe not. Sometimes, we need a break. Last night, at 6:50 pm, our power went out. We were just coming back to the house because I had forgotten the videos that I had rented, and that were in need of return. The remote-controlled garage door wouldn't open. My husband suggested the power could be out. Power outage? “But it's summer,” I clamored,…

I envy the ability of babies and puppies who can sleep anywhere and at any time of their choosing. No matter what is going on, they drift off at will. It's 3:30 am and as I sit here in bed typing, my puppy sleeps on a bench at the foot of the bed. He looks comfortable and at peace. It is not until I get up out of bed and disappear from the room for several minutes, whereby he can't relax because I'm out of his protective sight, that he stirs. "Go to sleep" I gently whisper and he wastes no time in doing so. Hmmm .... "Kat, go to sleep" and I shall waste no time in doing so. Sweet dreams, may they come ...

I was happy this morning for it was Friday! Every so often there is a day (or several) that can wear you down; lessons learned can be painful. My horoscope this past week was fitting.
Risa tends to be right on the money in her Libra predictions:

Recently, I attended a 4th of July BBQ held by my boss and her wife. My husband and I had a great time. The food was incredible, almost everything homemade (including the fresh strawberry daiquiri's), and you could tell that only the best ingredients went into every dish (most of the vegetables were fresh from their farm share). The company was…

Last night we went to one of my favorite places for Dinner, La Bruschetta, in Felton, Ca. The food served is always fresh and organic. Tomatoes really taste like tomatoes and the fresh herbs are amazing. I love almost everything on the menu and just about everything on the menu is served up with garlic! Give me garlic with…

Ahhh, this is the sweet life. Gently swaying back and forth on my hammock from the top deck, I bask in the sounds of the quiet. I close my eyes and I am surrounded only by the soft sounds of nature: The fluttering of wings, the distant trills of a House Finch, "dee dee" calls of the chickadees and soft "coos"…

On my day off no less. I've been itching to write, write, write. Document my streams of consciousness for all the world to see. Uhh ... well, at least those few who know and love me. I am quite introspective today. This entiere week, in fact. I'm not my usually social self. I prefer the peace and quiet of my Ben Lomond, Ca. woods, and the rustle of the wind through the redwoods and pines in my forest is music to my ears. Lying upstairs, in the master bedroom where the sliding glass door opens to the deck and the woods, I daydream of photography. Images that I envision in my mind and that which is captured to my camera's sensor. Click!
