Gone Shooting

Friday, August 28th, 2009
Yes, it's that time of year again. I've headed to Maine for my annual trip to Maine Media Workshops in Rockport Maine. This week I'll be forcing myself to shoot pictures of people and scenes with people in them. This means I'll likely not have any fingernails left when I get home. I'll definitely be outside of my comfort zone this week. But what the heck, isn't there a saying… Read More

She’s Alive!

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008
After a week of having a very bad flu I am resurfacing, hacking like a donkey (as anyone who sits within a mile of me will tell you), but at least alive and kicking. I should have known when the week before I caught the darned thing, I felt like I was ready to crawl into bed every day by 4:00 p.m.. But I remained clueless, until I awoke on a Tuesday morning with a 102 fever. I toughed it out on my own for two days before I gave in and went to the doctor. I did not bring my germs to work. I stayed home, and I like to think my colleagues appreciate it. Meanwhile,… Read More

Bring Your Germs to Work Day!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007
Bwthermo Everyone around me lately has been sick, sneezing, coughing, and they’re dropping like flies. One day they’re in the office and the next day … well, they’re STILL in the office! A few weeks ago I did something I had never done before: I had asked one of my colleagues, who had come to work sick (who was in need of antibiotics), if she planned… Read More

Day at the Beach: Get Your Feet Wet

Sunday, October 7th, 2007
I feel like a kid, sometimes, particularly when I’m around water. I find that I can never be close to water without getting my feet wet! Just like a kid, I don’t particularly enjoy wearing shoes either, preferring to be running around barefoot (not necessarily a great thing at work, so on those days, sandals are my choice). It is Indian summer and who knows how many more days of sunny, warm weather we have left. Two years ago, on Halloween, we had the most beautiful day and sunset that I’ve ever seen. Last year it was cloudy, threatening of rain (I suppose more appropriate weather for All Hallows Eve). Making the most of a beautiful day,… Read More

Day Spa Rejuvination

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007
“Non est vivre, sed valera vita est.” Life is not merely living, but living in health. Rockfountain As it has been such a crazy 2 weeks, I planned a day of calm rejuvenation. I went to a yoga class, a beginner course. I was a bit nervous for many so-called beginner classes are anything but beginner level. In the few previous… Read More

Backache

Saturday, August 25th, 2007
Ouch_2 Yep. I’ve been flat on mine all week. Flat on my back, that is. Last weekend, while lifting that sweet, little “object of my affection" that I couldn't stand to leave at home as we were about to embark on a Sunday drive, I threw my back out. It didn’t feel so bad at first. I carried on throughout the day feeling only a minor twinge. I really hadn’t… Read More

Massage

Sunday, August 5th, 2007
Massageoil I love getting a massage. It’s both a pleasure and a treat, and a gift that I give myself fairly regularly. I’m sure there are those of you out there who consider this an impractical luxury, or even a selfish gesture. But when you consider the benefits of touch and massage, think again … I work in a high-stress environment. I always… Read More

I Am a Tree

Saturday, July 28th, 2007
Bwbooks I was happy this morning for it was Friday! Every so often there is a day (or several) that can wear you down; lessons learned can be painful. My horoscope this past week was fitting. Risa tends to be right on the money in her Libra predictions: " LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22) Take care that feelings of… Read More
