Yes, it's that time of year again. I've headed to Maine for my annual trip to Maine Media Workshops in Rockport Maine. This week I'll be forcing myself to shoot pictures of people and scenes with people in them. This means I'll likely not have any fingernails left when I get home. I'll definitely be outside of my comfort zone this week. But what the heck, isn't there a saying…

Driving up to Oregon we seemed to be chasing the snow. Once we drove through Redding, California, the rain froze and snowflakes fell. By the time we drove through Ashland, Oregon, our visibility dropped as did our driving speed. Restless and unable to resist taking pictures of beautiful, snow capped mountains, I decided to roll down my window and snap whatever I could. As I…

I missed Maine the minute I left and I'm glad that I took more photos than I can reasonably sort in a day or two. Right about now, I'd mostly likely be at one of the many beautiful harbors watching the boats come in. The 9 days I spent in Maine were truly magical and I can't wait to go back. And I will be back!

Before I left on my trip for Maine, Courtney made me promise to try a lobster roll. And since I always try to keep my promises ... I was skeptical about the whole lobster roll thing. To be honest, it didn't sound very good. But to my surprise it was absolutely delicious. So much so, that I had TWO of them. Here are my before and after pictures. Courtney, thanks for the recommendation. Wish you were here!

I'm tired, my photography sucks, and I am certain that I don't belong in this class. What the heck am I doing here anyway, I wonder? I'm slightly grumpy, but holding my own - sort of. According to Bob, this is typical. This too shall pass. The excitement of Monday and starting a new class has worn off and the early morning,…

Maine is heaven on earth. It's simply a breathtaking place. Everyone who knew that I was coming to Maine told me that I would fall in love with it. My husband forewarned me that I will want to move here (given my penchant for wanderlust, it's really not a surprise). He was right. Maine is undescribably gorgeous. I don't…

I was envious when my friend Courtney told me she was going home to Maine to visit her family for the holidays. They had snow and lots of it! We’re visiting family in Southern Oregon, where it doesn’t snow very often. The last time I had seen snow in Grant’s Pass, Oregon was 5 years ago. And every year since then, I've wished for…

It was off to a rocky start! I had pre-arranged to take both Monday and Tuesday off for a long weekend getaway. Bill and I decided to celebrate our two-year wedding anniversary (and 12 years being together anniversary) in
Mendocino, California. This was planned months ago (a surprise from him). We planned to leave early Saturday morning. Friday, the day prior, I woke up with a fever, full-body aches, an exploding head and my stomach felt like a football team was aggressively playing down to their 2-minute warning! What to do? Go to work? I tried. I got up, twice, during the night and took hot baths, soaking…
